Third-party wheels on a Moza base: 3 layers

TL;DR

The question has three answers, not one
"Can I put this wheel on a Moza base?"
Search that and you will get a paragraph about quick releases. It will tell you to check for a D1 SPEC pattern, and it will be correct, and it will stop there.
Moza's own FAQ answers the question in three parts. Only the first one is about mounting, and the third one is about a safety feature.
Layer one: it bolts on
Moza states it plainly: yes, as long as the steering wheel meets the D1 SPEC specification quick release, it can be connected to a Moza Racing base.
So the mechanical answer really is yes, and a D1 SPEC rim really will mount. If your only question was whether the hole pattern lines up, you can stop reading. Almost nobody's real question is that.
Layer two: the buttons do not come with it
Here is the sentence that should change your shopping.
Moza states that "the interaction between the paddles and buttons of the steering wheel body requires the steering wheel to be connected to the computer by other means."
Your rim mounts. It turns. Force feedback works. And the shift paddles, the rotary encoders and every button on the face are not talking to anything, because the base is not carrying their signals. They need their own route to the PC.
That is the difference between a rim that fits and a rim that works, and it is invisible in every compatibility table that answers this question with a quick-release standard. You can complete this purchase, complete the installation, and discover the gap the first time you reach for an upshift.
Layer three: the safety feature is wrong until you tell it
This is the layer that made the finding worth an article.
Moza states that "after using a third-party steering wheel, you need to select the actual inertia ratio of the third-party steering wheel in MOZA Pit House, otherwise the off-hand protection will not work properly."
Off-hand protection is what stops a direct drive base from spinning freely when you let go of the wheel. To do that, the base has to know how much rotating mass is attached to it. It cannot weigh the rim you bolted on. So until you go into the software and tell it, the protection is calibrated for a wheel you are no longer using.
Nothing warns you. The rig works. The feature is silently configured for the wrong hardware, and the failure mode only appears at the moment the feature was supposed to help.
So what is the actual answer
Mechanically yes, electrically no, and your safety setting is wrong until you go and fix it by hand.
If you want a specific third-party rim on a Moza base, budget for the second connection as part of the purchase rather than discovering it afterwards, and put the Pit House inertia setting on the same checklist as tightening the bolts. Neither step is difficult. Both are invisible until someone tells you.
